Not to be dramatic, but I’ve been dressing the wrong way for my entire life

When I get stressed I attempt to organize things… blah blah blah… long story short I recently have been trying to categorize myself using seasonal color analysis (I’m a true summer! but that’s for a different day) and the kibbe body analysis and therefore make my life (and especially sewing life) easier. I can’t wait to reread this paragraph in like two years and feel deeply sorry for how neurotic I was (am). Whatever. Onwards.

Romantic Type

After taking the Kibbe test here and here and here and then relentlessly researching until I was absolutely positive by scrolling through this subreddit and this blog and this blog and this blog and then making a Pinterest board, and then thinking maybe I’ve got it wrong and maybe I’m an ingenue, and then thinking that maybe I’m a soft natural after all, I’ve come to the conclusion that I am a Romantic type.

Firstly, I’m petite and curvy and it’s not even funny how much better I look with curly hair even though my hair is naturally straight. But let me just prove it to you (read: me) even more.

1. No to stiff, structured, or boxy clothing.

“Stiff, structured clothes make your feminine, alluring features look out of place. It can actually create the impression that your intent is for people to stare at you.”

although i will go to my grave loving this “stiff, structured” romper so…

do we want to talk about how i’m doing the exact same pose in basically every one of those photos or…

2. No to anything oversized or slouchy

seriously if you scrolled through my life Black Mirror-style, you’d see a whole lot of oversized. Because why would I want to show off my curvy-ness when I was insecure about it.

“And in shapeless clothes, you’ll look insignificant and  unprepared.”

ouch.

3. Slight no to “little girl” details

This one hits me hard. I love a good bow and I love my heart shades. I’ll continue to wear them. But I honestly do look a bit like I’m trying to be younger than I am. (And yes I even included a picture of me when I was ten to prove a point [circa 2006-7 not 2014]). This one’s not too bad it just doesn’t really suit my body I guess even if it does suit my personality.

4. red. do it.

5. large floral prints

another signature style of the romantic style essence: large floral prints. Can you pull them off? You probably have the romantic style essence.

6. tight/well-fitted clothing and dresses

“Sensuality is best communicated through tight-fitted garments. And Romantics look amazing when they wrap their curves into clothing that doesn’t leave much room for the imagination.”

I… no comment

7. feminine shapes and silhouettes
